White House: New sanctions are coming to Russia – The war will not end soon

New sanctions against Russia, and tightening of existing oneswill be imposed by Joe Biden and the US allies during the visit of the American president in Brussels, announced today, Tuesday, the National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan.

The US president is leaving tomorrow, Wednesday, for Brussels, where he will have contacts with NATO allies, G7 leaders and the European Union.

In anticipation of President Biden’s trip to Europe, National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan was asked how he assessed the Russian nuclear threat, and commented that Mr. Putin was the one who caused the issue by referring to the beginning of the conflict. He stressed that we should be concerned, and that Americans take it as seriously as possible. They have not changed their own alarm situation, he clarified, but added that they are constantly monitoring the issue and will discuss it with European partners.

The American official announced new actions and decisions military aid to Ukraine but also NATO reinforcement during Biden’s visit. According to Sullivan, Biden will discuss with the allies more long-term adjustments in terms of the development of NATO forces.

The US president is also expected to announce actions to strengthen energy security in Europe and reduce its dependence on Russia’s oil and gas.
