The war in the Gaza Strip will end relatively soon, US President Donald Trump said after completing his talks Monday with Israeli prime minister at the White House.

Trump stressed that he had an excellent conversation with the Israeli prime minister for Iran and trade, adding that the two countries would negotiate a completely new trade agreement.

Asked about duties and if he is thinking of “freeing” their implementation in order for the US to negotiate with their trade partners, he noted that such a possibility is not being considered, but added that he would have discussions with China, Japan and other countries on the matter.

“Well, we don’t look at this. We have many, many countries that come to negotiate agreements with us and will have fair agreements. And in some cases they will pay fair duties, “he said characteristically, while reiterating his threat that he would impose 50% additional tariffs on imports of goods from China if Beijing does not threaten to retaliate 34% in American products.

Concerning the European Union, the US president noted that trade between the two economies must be fair and mutual, adding that the EU should proceed with more US energy markets.

At the same time, he noted that Washington has made enormous progress with many countries in terms of tariffs.

Regarding the exemption of Russia from duties, he stressed that the issue was not discussed as the US has no trading with Moscow.

Answering a question about Gaza, the US president stressed that the control and possession of the Palestinian enclave would be a positive development, bringing back to the forefront the proposal he made in the first weeks of his new term in the White House.

“Having a force like the United States there, control and ownership of the Gaza Strip would be good,” Trump told reporters.

Asked about relations with Iran and the nuclear program, Trump stressed that the US has direct talks at the highest level with Tehran and a very important meeting will be held on Saturday, adding that there may be an agreement. If direct talks with Tehran fail, Trump noted that Iran would face a “high risk”.

“I think if the talks are not successful with Iran, I think Iran will be faced with great risk,” he said characteristically, adding that “Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon and if the talks are not successful, I think it will be a very bad day.”

Finally, with regard to Ukraine, he noted that discussions with Moscow and Kiev are continuing and progress is being made.

For his part, Netanyahu said that Israel would eliminate trade barriers to trading with the US and that it was moving to annihilate the US trade deficit with Israel.

The Israeli prime minister added that they were talking to Donald Trump about Gaza and that the two sides are working to reach a new deal, while adding that Gaza residents should be given to relocate anywhere.

The two leaders, as Netanyahu pointed out, also talked about Syria, with the Israeli prime minister pointing out to Trump that Turkey should not be allowed to exploit the situation in the country.
