A gas leak at the Swimming Pool of the Olympic Park in Stratford led to the evacuation of the Park and the wider area.
Many residents have respiratory problems and are given first aid. 22 ambulances have gathered at the spot.
Authorities say it is a “major incident” and are urging people not to approach the area.
Three fire trucks have also rushed to the spot, while the building has been sealed.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “Officers were alerted by the London Fire Department at 9:53 a.m. on Wednesday for leaking harmful fumes at the Aquatics Center, Queen Elizabeth Park, E20. “

The mayor of London said that he was informed about the situation by the competent services.
The center was one of the main venues of the 2012 London Olympics and was used for the sports of swimming, synchronized swimming and diving.
It was later modified and opened to the public in 2014 as a Wet Athletics Center which includes a large sports and leisure complex.
