Hamas confirmed yesterday that it received an Israeli proposal for a truce in the Gaza Strip, but made it clear that one of the terms of Israel – the disarmament of the Palestinian movement – is a “red line” and will not be negotiated.

According to the Abu zuhri Hamas official who spoke to the French Agency, Israeli proposal foresees ‘The liberation of half hostages’ the first week after reaching an agreement in exchange for a ceasefire ‘At least 45 days’ and the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.

In the proposal transmitted to Egyptian mediators, Israel also demands the disarmament of all Palestinian factions in Gaza as a prerequisite for the “definitive end” of the war. The Hamas official told the French Agency that this issue is ‘Red Line’ which is ‘Non -negotiable’.

The leadership of the Palestinian Islamist movement reserved to respond to the Israeli proposal following the ‘Necessary consultations’.

The war in the Gaza Strip broke out after Hamas’ unprecedented attack on southern Israel on October 7, 2023, when 1,218 people were killed and 251 were abducted. Since then, at least 50,983 people have been killed by Israeli military operations in the Palestinian enclave, according to Hamas controlled by Gaza health ministry.
