French President Emmanuel Macron had talks today in Paris with US Secretary of State Marko Rubio and President Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkov, as European and Ukrainian officials are trying to support Kyivo’s position.

This high -level diplomacy reflects increased concerns in Europe about the US approach with Russia, as Donald Trump’s efforts have so far failed to ensure a ceasefire. Trump, who has long been saying that he aims to end the war very quickly, suggests that he is annoyed with both Moscow and Kiev.

“Everyone wants peace. A stable and sustainable peace. The question is about coordination, “Macron said, welcoming Rubio to the Champs -Elysees.

Trump’s special envoy to Ukraine, Keith Kogg, who was also in Paris, posted a photo of the Ukrainian delegation on the X platform X and wrote: “Very productive meetings at the Mansion of Elysia, in the attempt to finish him.”

Earlier, before talks with Rubio and Witkov, Macron also spoke with Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski.

France welcomed the “excellent talks” held in Paris, which included Americans, Ukrainians, French, British and German officials, for the first time. A new meeting of representatives of the five countries is scheduled for next week in London.

Europeans have been worried for weeks that they would be on the sidelines, in talks by the US with Russia.

“We have begun today in Paris a positive process that cooperates with Europeans,” the French presidency said.

After a conversation with Zelenski, Macron welcomed Witkov and then Rubio for a working lunch. He greeted them by handshake, but not with the warm hugs and hits on the back he is used to.

Earlier, the French president’s foreign policy adviser and his counterparts of Britain and Germany met with Ukrainian Presidency, Andriy Germak, who said they discussed the truce and security guarantees. “We have exchanged views on the next steps towards achieving a fair and lasting peace, including the application of a full truce, the development of a multinational military force and the effective security architecture for Ukraine,” Germak wrote in his post on Platform X.

At the same time, at a press conference he gave to Kiev, the Ukrainian president said Russia has limited blows to energy infrastructure, but is attacking other non -military infrastructure. He also stressed that Kiev is not ready to discuss territorial issues until the truce is implemented.

Zelenski again accused Witkov of “spreading the Russian narrative” about the war.

The Kremlin presented today’s meetings in Paris as an opportunity for Witkov to inform Europeans about his talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin last week.

Americans and French officials said that in Paris they would also discuss US efforts to reach an agreement on Iran’s nuclear program.

Whitkov will go to Rome on Saturday for the second round of talks with Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Aragsi. Last Saturday, in Oman, they met for 45 minutes. Both sides described the conversations as positive but admitted that they were still far from a possible agreement.
