In an unprecedented attack on US President Donald Trump, China posted a sharp video on social media, calling on the international community to resist America’s “bully” and reporting “China will not kneel”.

The video narrates a “history lesson” for what China considers to be American financial aggression, referring to companies such as Toshiba and Alstom, which, according to the narrative, the US has forced disintegration, economic crisis and bankruptcy, leading the Japanese economy to “anemia”.

Contrarying this image, China is present as a “free trade paradise” with which other countries can invest and cooperate safely.

“China will remain firm, no matter how loud the wind blows,” the video said. “Someone has to move forward, holding the torch, to break up the fog and brighten the way.”

The video is a message to the Trump government after the historical escalation of the trade war, as well as a call for action towards other countries. China in the video called on every country to “stand up” to “break the walls of hegemony”.

The video does not directly refer to the 145% duties imposed by the Trump government on Chinese imports – nor on the 125% reciprocal duties that China has imposed on US products.
