THE Ukraine announced today that it destroyed one big russian amphibious shipthe Orsk, which was anchored in the port occupied by the Russian forces Berdyanskin Sea of Azov.
A video, set by the agency Reuters confirmed that it was pulled through Berdyansk, showing smoke rising from the problems and the glow of an explosion.
Two shipsone of which appears to have been damaged, are then seen sailing while a third is on fire.
The agency was unable to confirm that the burning ship in the video was the Orsk. Russian officials did not respond immediately when asked to comment on the report.
On Monday, Moscow reported that Orsk had docked in Berdyansk, 70 kilometers southwest of the besieged Mariupol. The website of the Russian Armed Forces Zvezda (“Star”) pointed out the importance of this port for Russian supply lines.
“Yes, it was destroyed,” said Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar when asked about Orsk. According to this source, the ship was able to carry 45 armored personnel carriers and 400 people.
