Britain is celebrating 80 years since the end of World War II in Europe.
Cheerful and smiling, King Charles – who has been fighting for 15 months with cancer – and the popular princess of Wales, Kathryn (Kate Middleton) today watched the impressive military parade today in London at the launch of the 40th century.
Surrounded by members of the royal family and veterans of the war, 76 -year -old Charles and the future queen of Britain seemed to enjoy the parade of Victory Day (Ve Day).
The parade was also attended by Ukrainian troops, in support of the war to Ukraine.
Then the whole royal family will traditionally come out on the balcony of Buckingham’s palaces to admire the historic aircraft of the Royal Air Force as well as the acrobatic swarm “Red Arrows” will fly to the sky of London.
There will also be hundreds of holidays, picnics, exhibitions and memory ceremonies throughout Britain.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, Queen Camilla will admire a facility consisting of about 30,000 ceramic poppies, symbols of war victims, while many buildings in Britain, including Buckingham, will be illuminated.
The celebrations will end on Thursday, when at noon (14:00 Greek time) a minute’s silence will be held, and will be held at the Westminster Prayer in the presence of the royal family and a concert at the Horse Guards Parade in London.
In addition, on Thursday the pubs will be able to close two hours later.
While younger generations face World War II, celebrations this year are even more important as “it is probably the last chance to participate in survivors” of that time, historian Robert Hazel of University College London estimated.
