A new political murder is shocking Mexico, victim to Yesenia Lara Gutiérrez, candidate for Mayor of Morena in Techistek, State of Veracrus. The attack took place on Sunday, May 11, during a pre -election rally, in front of a large number of open mobile cameras.

Lara welcomed citizens when they suddenly heard over 15 shots, causing chaos. She was killed on the spot, along with three more people, while two injured were hospitalized.

This is the second murder of the ruling party in a few days, as a candidate for the Coxquihui municipal community had been assassinated on April 29. Authorities have begun research, and society is raising concern in the face of the critical federal elections of 2025, as policies are intensifying.
