Members of the World Health Organization have categorically voted in favor of a potentially pioneering global treaty to improve the readiness in pandemics at the global health assembly on Monday.
As Reuters reports, 124 countries voted in favor. Slovakia called for a vote on Monday, as its skeptical prime minister on the COVID-19 vaccine has questioned the adoption of the deal. No country voted against, while 11 countries, including Poland, Israel, Italy, Russia, Slovakia and Iran, abstained.
The draft agreement, which is facing structural inequalities on how to develop and disposal drugs or vaccines and health tools, will be officially approved on Tuesday at the World Health Assembly in Geneva.
However, it will not officially enter into force until the states re -agree on the pathogens of pathogens, which could last up to two years.
