“The intruders realize that they will not be able to reach Odessa “through the Nikolaev area,” said the city’s mayor, Alexander Senkevich.
According to him, at the moment the invaders can bomb Odessa only from the sea.
“I think that the Russians will not pass from the Nikolaev area in Odessa, and they understand that. They can try to do it from the sea, they can try to land troops, but Odessa is also very well fortified and any such attempt is doomed. “The maximum they can do now with Odessa is to bomb it from ships from the sea,” Senkevic said.
At the same time, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry said that its forces continue to defend Kyiv from Russian attacks, noting that Russian troops are struggling to “maintain the necessary pace of battle and achieve the ultimate goal of the war.”
In a statement, the ministry said Russian forces were facing challenges in replacing personnel and supplies, in part due to international sanctions.
However, airstrikes by Russian forces continued, the ministry added.
In the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, it was claimed that Ukrainian forces had destroyed eight Russian tanks, as well as three planes and three unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
