The United Arab Emirates has experienced the highest temperature ever recorded on Friday, since the data is kept in 2003: Mercury climbed to 51.6 degrees Celsius, according to the National Meteorology Center (NCM).
This temperature was recorded at 13.45 in the Sueikan. The previous record, 50.4 points, had just been made the day before in Abu Dhabi.
In April in the Emirates there was an unusual heat for the season and the average maximum temperature reached 42.6 degrees. Authorities were forced to issue warnings to residents, asking them to drink a lot of water and avoid activities in the countryside during the warmest hours of the day. On April 27, the thermometer showed 46.6 degrees, approaching the ultimate April record in 2012, with 46.9 points.
Within 30 years the number of very hot days almost doubled around the world. Scientists point out that repeated heatwaves are undoubtedly an indication of global warming. These heat waves are expected to multiply, intensify and last longer.
