A huge explosion of dead, injured and missing was reported at a factory that manufactures pesticides in the province of Santong, China.

According to the report so far, 5 people were killed, 19 injured and 6 missing.

The incident happened around 12:00 local time (07:00 Greek time) at a factory at YouDao Chemical, the largest producer of pesticide Chlorpyrifos in the world. According to the Chinese news agency Xinhua.

After the explosion, dense smoke was raised in the air, while residents reported that they heard a loud click broke windows of many houses.

Video circulating on Chinese social media shows gray and orange smoke rising upwards, flooding buildings in the industrial park.

The Fire Department sent 55 vehicles to the site of the explosion, the Ministry of Emergency of China said in a statement.

The Shandong Youdao Chemical plant belongs to the Himile group, which also holds the Stock Exchange listed on the Himile Mechanical Stock Exchange, whose shares fell almost 4% on Tuesday afternoon, according to Reuters.

Shandong Youdao Chemical, founded in August 2019, occupies more than 46 hectares of land in the Gaomi Renhe chemical park and employs more than 300 people, according to the company’s website.
