Macron empties Biden, who called Putin a “butcher.”

by

French President Emmanuel Macron has distanced himself from the remarks of US President Joe Biden, who said in a speech in Warsaw yesterday that Putin is a “butcher” and that “This man can not stay in power.”

“I would not use those words,” he told France 3 television, adding that “everything must be done to stop the escalation of the situation” if there is any hope of ending Russia’s war in Ukraine.

Macron also told France 3 that he saw his task as “achieving a ceasefire first and then the complete withdrawal of the [ρωσικών] troops by diplomatic means. “If we want to do that, we can not escalate it in words or deeds.”

The French President noted that his task was to contribute to “achieving a ceasefire first and [ρωσικών] troops by diplomatic means. “If we want to do that, we can not escalate it in words or deeds.”

He said Putin was a “butcher” and that “this man can not stay in power.” However, the White House later clarified that the US was not asking for regime change.
