Technology colossus, Ilon Musk, escalated his attack on Donald Trump’s tax bill on Wednesday, inviting Americans to contact their MPs to “kill” it.
“Call your senator, call your MP,” Musk wrote on a social media post. “Driving America to bankruptcy is not okay!”
Call Your Senator,
Call Your Congressman,Bankrupting America is not ok!
Kill the Bill
– Elon Musk (@elonmusk) JUNE 4, 2025
The post came one day after Musk was against the bill, describing it as an “disgusting abortion”, while some Republicans, supporters of fiscal policy, also criticized it for the huge cost of spending.
Musk’s public condemnation brings him to conflict with Donald Trump at a critical political moment, as Trump exerts personal pressure on those who oppose the bill to avoid supporting it. The Musk campaign may boost resistance and delay the approval of tax cuts and the increase in debt threshold.
Musk launched his attacks a few days after he resigned as head of the government’s efficiency service to reduce federal spending. His involvement in the government allegedly hit his business, with Tesla’s electric car sales falling.
The tax bill is expected to add $ 2.4 trillion to US public debt over the next decade, according to a estimate released Wednesday by the Congress Independent Budget Office (CBO).
CBO estimation reflects $ 3.67 trillion in expected revenue and a drop of 1.25 trillion in spending by 2034, compared to basic forecasts. The analysis does not take into account the possible stimulation of the economy by the bill, which could partially offset the losses.
