The majority of Americans express their dissatisfaction with the Trump government’s decision to develop the National Guard and the Marines in Los Angeles, in response to the demonstrations, according to a Yougov poll.

According to Axios, Donald Trump has chosen a militarized approach to the reaction wave caused by his policies. Although voters initially supported the rigorous migration of the agenda, they seem to disapprove of escalation through military means.

The demonstrations began on Sunday in Los Angeles, in protest of a series of immigration businesses in the area.

In response, the Federal Government activated California’s National Guard on Saturday despite the opposition of local authorities, while mobilizing hundreds of marines in the city.

On Sunday, Trump ordered the shipment of an additional 2,000 members of the National Guard for 60 days. California Governor Gavin Newsom criticized the decision via X (formerly Twitter), describing it as “irresponsible” and “meaningless”.

At the same time, about 700 marines were sent for the protection of federal agents and property, all that the law on sending an army inside.

The percentages:

47% of US adults disagree with the Marine Corps to Los Angeles, while only 34% approve it.

45% condemns the growth of the National Guard, while 38% agree.

A corresponding rate (45%) also disagree with ICE demonstrations, while 36% support them and 19% say they are indecisive.

As Axios notes, Americans traditionally disapprove of demonstrations for political and social rights.

Views are largely shaped by party identity:

58% of Democrats approve protests against Ice, compared to just 15% of Republicans.

68% of Republicans support the presence of the Marines, compared to just 12% of the Democrats.

The development of the National Guard is approved by 75% of Republicans, but only 13% of the Democrats.
