Thousands of people gathered Tuesday in Chicago in a demonstration against the Trump government and the US immigration and customs agency raids.

As CBSNews reports, the crowd, initially gathered at the Federal Plaza, then headed to the city center. Police clashed with protesters in some places and several people were arrested.

Some of the episodes occurred when a car passed through the crowd at the beginning of the march.

Around 6:19 pm (local time), a car was seen moving high on the road as the protesters marched on Monroe Street and Wabash Avenue.

The brown sedan passed rapidly among the protesters.

A witness, Dr. Howard Erman said that the car was almost falling on the protesters and accused Chicago police of not taking sufficient measures.

“People started running. Chicago police were on either side of Monroe Street and instead of trying to block the car, they were trying to block the protesters. It was a miracle that no one was hit. A sign was overthrown, someone fell, but no one was seriously injured »said Erman.

The driver then went east on Monroe Street to Michigan Avenue and fled.

A mobile video pulled by a nearby building showed a woman who was injured as a crowd was formed around her, which was taken to the hospital by ambulance. The woman was at the forefront of the protest with a paint container in her hand.

The car did not miss the protesters, who continued their march, while Chicago police were watching the team both from the ground and the air by helicopter.

It is not known until this time whether the driver has been arrested, and there has been no official announcement on the motives of the perpetrator or whether there are injured.
