Harvey Weinstein’s Manhattan court was guilty of one of the charges involving sex crimes, although he has not yet resulted in a verdict for all the charges faced by the former powerful film producer. Jury consultations have been marked by disputes and threats inside the room.

Winestein, 73, is being tried again after overthrowing his sentence in 2020 by a New York Court of Appeal. Prosecutors accuse him of raping an actor and attacking two other women. He has declared innocent and denies that he has attacked or had sexual intercourse without consensus.

The jurors found him guilty of one of the three categories – the attack on former production assistant Miriam Halei in 2006. He was found innocent of the accusation associated with the alleged attack on Kaya Sokola in 2002, when she was 16 years old.

There has not yet been a decision on the third category, which concerns Jessica Man’s rape in 2013. The jurors will continue consultations on this part on Thursday.

The partial verdict was issued on the fifth day of consultations, which were characterized by tensions. Before the decision was announced, Judge Curtis Farber was particularly met with a member of the Jury Corps, known as “January 1”. The judge then told the room that there was a “fight” between the jury.

“January 1 made it clear that he would not change his mind,” the judge said, adding that voices, insults and threats were transferred to him, including the phrase: “I will find you from the outside one day.”

Winestein’s lawyer Arthur Aidala called for the trial, while the judge was preparing to release the jury to “calm down”. However, they sent a note stating that they had come to a partial verdict.

The re -proceedings of the case began on April 23. Weinstein, who is facing serious health problems, is watching the wheelchair trial.

In her speech on June 3, the Public Prosecutor’s Office said the figures prove that Weinstein had exploited his power to trap and abuse women.

The defense for her part claimed that the complainants lied to the court, as their consensual love affair with the Oscar -winning producer did not secure them the career they wanted in Hollywood.
