The president Donald Trump seems to bet on Vladimir Putin’s intervention as a catalyst to end conflict between Israel and Iranwhile Tel Aviv decided to extend the emergency status in the country until June 30th. The diplomatic balances in the area hang from fine threads, as the war continues with undiminished intensity.

Trump, Putin and US military presence

In a recent interview with the US network ABC, Trump said that “There is a way of resolving the deadlock”pointing out that he had a long conversation with the Russian president to assume a mediator between Iran and Israel. Former US President spoke enigmatically about “Many discussions in the background”however, stating that the US will continue to boost Israeli air defense. The arrival of US aircraft carrier “Nimetz” in the area is a clear indication of Strengthening US military presence in the Middle East.

Iranian strategy and pressure on “iron dome”

Iran has had unprecedented blows with its ballistic attacks on Israeli residential areas. According to a Revolutionary Guard officials, Iranian forces apply a “new method” aimed at confusing the system “Iron dome” and the rest of the defense mechanisms that Israel has from the West. Israeli air defense missiles are even alleged to be involved, reducing their success rate. Israeli government reminds citizens that the anti -missile umbrella does not provide “100% security”. At the same time, both sides measure heavy human casualties, injuries and extensive damage – for the fourth consecutive wilderness day.

Escalation through ‘spy hunting’

The tension is not only limited to the field of war conflict but also to its background backmooting. In Iran, authorities have arrested citizens in recent days who are accused of being recruited by Mosad – one was even executed by hanging. In Israel, two young Israeli young Israelis were arrested at exactly the same period for alleged cooperation with Iran’s intelligence services, adding new names to the extensive list of spy arrests recorded since the start of the war.

In spite of optimistic placements of Donald Trump, who seems to attempt to form a positive climate with no tangible results, or reality remains harsh in Israel. The official announcement on the extension of the emergency regime by June 30 clearly reflects that the end of the crisis does not appear on the horizon.
