A dynamic message in the direction of finding a diplomatic solution to the Iran and Israel conflict was sent by EU High Representatives on Foreign Policy, Kaya Calas, following a meeting of the European Union’s foreign ministers.

At a live press conference, Callas stressed:

“We have all agreed on the urgent need for escalation, Iran cannot have a nuclear bomb and diplomacy is the solution to prevent this and the EU will play its role,” she told reporters after meeting with EU Foreign Ministers.

Its statement comes in a period of increasing tension in the Middle East, with the international community worried about the possibility of further escalation between Israel and Iran. The European Union emphasizes the need for self -restraint and urges all parties to return to the dialogue.

Kalas reiterated that the EU is ready to take an active role as a mediator in order to avoid a wider conflict in the area.

However, he stressed: “We cannot be lenient when Iran accelerates its nuclear program”
