Zelensky rage against West: Imposing embargo on Russian oil – Fear makes you “accomplices”

by

The Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky called on the West once again last night to immediately tighten sanctions on Russia, including imposing an embargo on oil sales.

In a video posted on the Internet, addressing the Ukrainians, the obviously angry Zelensky complained that the West did not calculate correctly last year and delayed imposing sanctions on Russia, a measure which, according to the Ukrainian president, could have prevented the invasion. in his country.

“A large-scale war has begun. There are many hints and warnings of possible tougher sanctions, such as an embargo on Russian oil sales to Europe in the event that Russia use chemical weapons“, Stressed Zelenski in the video in which he sometimes appears to clap his hands on the table in front of him.

“There are simply no words (…) We, the people who remain alive, have to wait. Does not everything that the Russian army has already done justify the imposition of an oil embargo? Phosphorus bombs do not justify it? “A bombed chemical plant or a bombed nuclear plant do not justify it?” He asked.

“If the sanctions are mild or do not work hard, if they can be circumvented, there is a dangerous illusion in the Russian leadership that it will be allowed to continue doing what it is doing now,” Zelensky added.

“Ukrainians are paying for this with their lives. “Thousands of lives,” he complained.

Zelensky also said he would address the parliaments of various countries this week, urging them to offer more weapons to Ukraine.

“Ukrainians should not die just because someone can not find the courage to give them the weapons they need. “Fear always makes you an accomplice,” he stressed.

“If anyone is afraid of Russia, if he is afraid to make the necessary decisions that are important to us, especially to get planes, tanks, the necessary artillery, shells, he makes these people responsible for the catastrophe created by the Russians. “Because if you could save, you had to save.”

As for the battles on the field, the Ukrainian president noted that the country’s troops are regaining territory around the capital and repelling Russian forces.

“Our defenders are advancing in the Kiev region, regaining control of Ukrainian territory,” he said.

“The Irpin was released. Well done! I am grateful to all those who worked for this result. The conquerors were repulsed by Irpin. “They were repulsed from Kyiv,” he said.

“However, it is too early to talk about security in this part of our region. “The fighting continues,” he added.

However, he stressed that despite the victories, Russian troops remained in control of the northern part of Kiev and that they would continue their attacks.

“In the Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Donbas regions, southern Ukraine, the situation remains tense everywhere, very difficult,” he added.

For Mariupol, which is considered by many to be the city most affected, Zelensky said it remains under siege.

“Russian troops did not allow any humanitarian corridor to be organized today, they did not allow silence,” he said.

On the diplomatic front, the Ukrainian president said he had agreed with Boris Johnson of the United Kingdom “to further support our defense and to strengthen sanctions against the Russian Federation.”
