The candidate for mayor of the Republic of New York, Zohran Mamdani, is only 33 years old – but his “political” career begins in 2009, according to CNBC.

It was then that, as a student, he applied for Vice President of The Bronx High School of Science. It was “ultimately a failed nomination,” Mamdani said in an episode of the podcast “Airgo” in 2017, noting that the other candidate vice president “won me over in those elections”. One of his professor later said that the video rap of his election campaign cost the election, Mamdani added.

Mamdani is currently serving at the New York State Assembly as a representative of the 36th Region, based in Queens. It secured the Democrats for the city municipality in November during the qualifying vote, conducting a campaign that has so far focused on reducing New York’s life costs.

His political proposals include, among other things, free travel and freezing of the city’s rents.

If he is elected in November, he will be the newest Mayor of New York since 1914.
