California Governor Gavin Newsom sued FOX News on Friday, seeking compensation of at least $ 787 million from the conservative network because he allegedly defamed him by making misleading comments about a telephone conversation with President Donald.

“No more lies,” Newsom wrote in a tweet that announced his lawsuit, which Democrat filed at the Dellaber Supreme Court, where Fox News is based.

The financial compensation requested by Newsom almost corresponds to what Fox Corp., Fox News and other fox cable networks have paid to Dominion Voting Systems in April 2023 to settle a lawsuit in Delauguar who claimed to be dying Dominion They influenced the outcome of the 2020 presidential elections against Trump.

Newsom’s lawsuit focuses on comments by Fox News presenter Jessie Waters, who said Newsom lied that he had no telephone conversation with Trump in early June.

News’ lawyers, in a letter on Friday to Fox News, said they were willing to voluntarily withdraw his lawsuit, “if Fox News withdraws the claim that he was lying when he talked about President Trump who did not call him on June 9.”

The letter also requires a “official apology on air” by Waters and Fox News in exchange for withdrawing the lawsuit.
