Two rockets hit, just before midnight on Monday, the airport – and at the same time on the basis of the Iraqi Air Force – at Kirkukin the northern part of Iraq, causing two people to be slightly injured, a security officer said.

Third rocket fell into a house in the city of Kirkuk, causing only material damage, according to the same source.

Local media referred to missiles of unknown origin, which hit the landing/take -off runway at Kirkuk International Airport, near the military side of the airport. They also transmit information on unmanned aircraft, which flew over the al -Uruba neighborhood in Kirkuk, with one of them hitting a house.

There has been no responsibility at this stage.

In a statement, the administration of the Kirkuk International Airport said:

“At 11:30 pm, three rockets of unknown origin fell, two on the military side and one on the political side, causing a fire on the grass near the gate on the military side.

The fire was extinguished by the heroes of the Kirkuk International Airport Fire Service. One person was slightly injured as a result of the attack and there was no damage to the landing/take -off runway.

Not all airport facilities were affected.

Fortunately, the Heroic Business Administration of Kirkuk and the units present around the airport quickly reacted. They are located throughout the airport area and there is no risk.

The event will not affect the flight program. “
