Hamas has announced today that it has consultations with other Palestinian movements regarding a truce proposal with Israel in the Gaza Strip, where civil protection reported 40 new deaths today from Israeli fire and raids.

Hamas’ announcement comes before Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to Washington on Monday, where he will meet with US President Donald Trump, who is pushing for a truce in the Palestinian pockets.

“We are taking consultations led by Palestinian factions on the proposal” sent by the mediators, the Palestinian Islamist Movement of Hamas, whose unprecedented attack on Israel announced on October 7, 2023, triggered the war.

According to a Palestinian source, this proposal “includes a 60 -day truce” in which Hamas will release half of the other Israeli hostages in exchange for the liberation of Palestinians held in Israeli prisons.

A source in Hamas said yesterday, Thursday, that the Palestinian organization has asked for guarantees that the proposal would lead to the end of the war in Gaza.

Trump assured Tuesday that Israel had agreed to finalize the terms of the truce and called on Hamas to accept it, arguing that reaching an agreement was close.

Meanwhile, the Israeli army continues its attack on the besieged Palestinian coastal enclave where, according to civil protection, at least 40 Palestinians were killed today, including five by fire while waiting to receive humanitarian aid.

According to Civil Protection, other Palestinians, including children, were killed in air raids on camps full of scenes housing displaced near Han Younis.

The Israeli army, with which the French agency contacted, said it was unable to comment on the specific attacks due to lack of expensive coordinates, but added that it “conducts operations to dismantle Hamas’ military potential”.

On Wednesday, Netanyahu reiterated that he would kill Hamas. “There will be no Hamas. There will be no Hamastan. We will not go back to it. It’s over, “Netanyahu said after the Trump statement on Israel’s agreement on the ceasefire proposal.
