British Prime Minister Kir Starmer today announced an agreement with the French government on a pilot program of immigrants, a program that will come into force in the coming weeks.

“I am pleased to announce today our agreement on an innovative pilot program: for the first time, immigrants arriving with small boats will be arrested and then returned quickly to France,” the British prime minister said, adding that “in return for any return,”

Only people “who have not attempted to enter the United Kingdom illegally” will be eligible for this exchange, he said during a joint press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron, who pays an official visit to the United Kingdom.

For his part, the French president said that a number of records of irregular migrants passed this year with the Channel Channel, separating Britain from mainland Europe, which shows – as Macron emphasized – that Brexit did not lead to stricter control.

While Brexit supporters said that leaving the European Union would give Britain more control over its borders, the opposite happened, Macron said, saying that British voters were cheated.
