NASA’s temporary head was appointed “by hand” Donald Trump, already in debt of transport minister Sean Daffi. The US president made the appointment on Wednesday, just a few weeks after the unexpected withdrawal of businessman’s candidacy, Jared Isaacman to appoint the head of the service.

“Will be an excellent head of the most important space service than ever, even if this will happen for a short time“, Trump wrote about Duffy on social media.

Duffy confirmed the decision as posting on social media shortly after Trump’s posting, saying that “it is an honor to accept the mission”. Former Wisconsin Senator and Star of TV reality show was the second name after Pitt Hegschez by Fox News presenters selected by Trump to join his government staff.

Duffy’s appointment comes to be added to previous appointments by Trump senior officials in multiple positions. For example, Foreign Minister Marco Rubio performs at the same time a role of temporary national security adviser to the White House and head of the US International Development Service. During Trump’s first term, Mik Malveini, director of the Budget and Budget Office, was appointed a White House staff chief.

At the end of May, Jared Isaacman was preparing to make the ratification decision through the Senate vote for his appointment when the US president withdrew the candidacy.

Donald Trump justified his decision by citing a “thorough examination of previous links”.

It was not clear what he meant it, though some Republicans had previously criticized Isaacman for donations to the Democrats, the Washington Post said.

On Sunday, Trump said he withdrew the candidacy because of the businessman’s ties with Elon Musk and after learning that Isaacman was a “blue -collar democratic who had never offered anything to a Republican”. Trump and Musk, former allies, are in a escalating dispute.

“I was relatively apolitical – a modest who leans to the right – and my political donations to both parties (though 10 times more in the Republicans) were revealed in writing, with reasoning, before my candidacy ever submitted to the Senate“, Isaacman said in his statement.

On Wednesday, he argued Duffy’s appointment as a temporary head, telling social media that NASA “needs political leadership from someone who trusts the president”.
