US president, Donald Trump, asked about a report that brings him to urge the Ukrainian president to hit the Russian capital, categorically rejected such a possibility on Kiev’s side, stating that Volodimir Zelneski should not be ”

At the same time, he sent a clear message to Vladimir Putin, asking to agree on a ceasefire within 50 days, otherwise sanctions would be activated.

His statements came after a report by the Financial Times, citing persons with the knowledge of talks, according to which Trump had privately encouraged Ukraine to intensify the interior of Russia.

The newspaper also said Trump asked Zelenski if he could hurt Moscow if the US had provided long -range weapons.

“No, it should not be targeted by Moscow,” Trump told reporters in the White House’s southern garden when asked if Zelensky would have to attack the Russian capital.

Trump had announced Monday a stricter stance on Russia for its three -year war in Ukraine, promising a new batch of missiles and other weapon systems for Kiev. He gave Moscow 50 days to agree on a ceasefire or face sanctions.

When asked if he was now on the side of Ukraine, Trump replied, “I am not the place with anyone” and said he was “on the part of humanity” because “I want the bloodshed to stop”.

He defended the deadline he put in Russia to come to an agreement and avoid duties and sanctions on countries buying Russian oil.

“I don’t think there are 50 days – it could be done earlier,” he said, noting that “if at the end of the 50 days we have no agreement, then it will be very bad.”

He did not mention if talks were planned to reach an agreement with Russia.

Earlier, White House spokesman Carolin Levitt, questioned, denied that Donald Trab encouraged further violence.

Responding to journalists’ questions, Levit argued that the US president during his conversation with Volodimir Zelenski “just asked a question and did not encourage any further bloodshed”, adding that Trump “works incessantly”.

The Financial Times report said that the conversation between the US president and Zelenski took place shortly after Trump’s contact with the Russian president, during which Putin allegedly told him he would continue to fight if the peace talks fail. Since then, Trump has adopted a harder attitude, threatening sanctions if Moscow does not move towards ending the war.

Ukraine has repeatedly affected targets of up to 1,600 kilometers within Russian territory, including areas in Moscow and St. Petersburg, Putin’s birthplace – using domestic drones, in a conflict now in its fourth year. Russia argues that most of these drones are rejected by its anti -aircraft defense.

Two people with knowledge of the telephone conversation between Donald Trump and Volodimir Zelenski revealed to the Financial Times that the US president asked his Ukrainian counterpart if he could hit military targets deep inside Russia if the US supplied him.

According to sources, Trump asked: “Volodimir, can you hit Moscow? … Can you hit St. Petersburg?”

Zelensky allegedly replied: “Absolutely. We can, if you give us the weapons. “

Trump appeared to support this strategy, saying – according to the same sources – that the goal is to “feel the Russians” and to force the Kremlin to sit on the table of negotiations.

A Western official, up -to -date on the content of the conversation, said the debate reflects the ever -increasing intent of Ukraine’s Western partners to provide long -range weapons, capable of “bringing war to Moscow”, a view that, according to him, has been expressed by him.

According to three other sources, the Trump -Chalenski conversation led to a list of potentially available weapons systems from the US side to Ukrainian during a meeting in Rome last week.

During this meeting between Zelenski, Pentagon officials and mediators from NATO countries surrendered to the Ukrainian side a list of high precision and range weapons, which could be provided through third countries. This model would allow Trump to bypass the need for Congress approval, allowing the sale of weapons systems to European allies, who would then transfer them to Ukraine.

Ukraine is said to have requested Tomahawk rockets, precision cruise missiles with a range of about 1,600 kilometers. However, according to a person who knows what the list includes, the Trump government – as the Biden government is concerned about the lack of restraint on Ukraine.

At the same time, at his meeting Monday at the Oval Office with NATO Secretary -General Mark Rutte, Trump announced the mission of Patriot and missile systems to Ukraine without mentioning other long -range systems.
