British police today arrested three women in an episodic protest outside the defense industry at Scotland. During the rally outside the facilities of the Leonardo Defense Industry near Edinburgh, a van was nailed to the perimeter fence.
In images released by the Shut Down Leonardo activists on social networking platforms, it appears the van that hit the fence, with a Palestinian flag on the back of the vehicle.
Activists accuse the defense industry Leonardo of supplying Israel to F-35 fighter aircraft.
Police reported that three women – aged 31, 34 and 42 – were arrested under terrorism law.
A defense industry spokesman said that “Leonardo UK is subject to the British government’s export controls and does not supply equipment directly to Israel.”
Noting that aggressive and violent actions have no place in a peaceful protest, he stressed that it is unacceptable “the intimidation of staff” who “works hard to support the security and defense of the United Kingdom”.
