A 7.4 -magnitude earthquake occurred today near the coast of Kamchatka in the Russian Far East, as reported by seismic activity.

The earthquake occurred off the east coast of Kamchatka at a depth of 10 kilometers, shortly after a previous seismic vibration had occurred, according to data from the German research center for geosciences (GFZ).

According to the European Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC), the earthquake was 7.4 degrees. The GFZ updated the magnitude of the earthquake at 7.4 out of 6.7 it had originally broadcast.

The US Tunami Warning Center initially issued a tsunami warning of Hawaii, which was canceled shortly afterwards.

The Russian State News Agency Tass later reported that a tsunami warning for Kamchatka also came, citing local emergency services.

Earlier, waves of up to 60 cm was expected to reach many parts of the area, including the capital of the Petropolovski-Kamtsacski region.
