The Filopylaistine Movement “Freedom Freedom” has known today that its new ship carrying humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip is approaching the coast of the Palestinian enclave and the goal is to tie there on Sunday morning, despite the exclusion imposed by Israel.

The Handala ship, chartered by this international, peaceful Palestinian support movement, has managed to get closer to Gaza compared to the previous one, Madleen, which was stopped in June. Today he was about 105 nautical miles (194 kilometers) from his destination, the organizers of the mission reported.

19 activists of various nationalities are aboard the ship, including two MPs of the French Radical Left Party “Unbelievable France”, Gabriel Kato and Emma Fouro, as well as two journalists. Handala sailed on July 13 from the port of Syracuse in Sicily.

The Israeli Navy has warned that it will not allow it to reach the besieged enclave. “The Israeli army is applying a legal naval blockade of security in the Gaza Strip and is ready for various scenarios, which will apply in accordance with the instructions” of political leadership, a spokesman said today, speaking to the French Agency.

Handala is a former Norwegian fishing boat that today transports medical material, food, children and medicines. The mission, funded by donations, aims to break the Israeli exclusion of Gaza, which is facing a serious humanitarian crisis, and to deliver help.

UN services and many non -governmental organizations warn that Gaza is facing immediate risk of famine.

Handala’s crew said via the X platform that hunger strike will begin if the ship was intercepted by the Israeli army and the occupants of it were arrested.

Six weeks ago, Madleen, another fleet boat, departed from Italy. The sailboat, which had 12 activists, was intercepted about 185 kilometers west of Gaza. Among his passengers was Swedish activist Greta Tancyberg and MEP Rima Hassan.
