The Thai Armed Forces accused the Cambodian star of violating the ceasefire agreement and the conflicts continued, although it was formally in force at 00:00 (local time; yesterday at 8pm Greece time).
“After the ceasefire was declared, incidents were reported in the Fu Macua area, caused by the Cambodian side, leading to an exchange of fire, which continued until morning,” said Ritsa Soukusuanon, deputy representative of the Thai Army.
In addition, “there were clashes in the Sam Tat area, which continued until 05:30 (local time; 01:30 Greek time),” he added.
It is noted that at least 33 soldiers and civilians have been killed, while thousands of Thai and Cambodians have been displaced by their areas since the conflict on July 24, while the two countries were accused of who began the conflict between them.
Thailand claimed that the battles began when the Cambodian army sent drones to watch the Thai forces near the border. Cambodia, for her part, said the Thai soldiers violated a previous agreement by proceeding to a Khmer-Induist temple.
The tension between the two countries counts for more than a century, when the border of the two countries were defined after the French occupation of Cambodia.
