The Italian prime minister – as it is reported – stressed that the results of her country’s co -operation with Turkey “can be used so far so that this experience can serve the support of the Libyan national unity government in terms of immigration”.

“In this context, the Italian prime minister discussed with her interlocutors a series of action plans to combat international networks of traffickers, improving the prevention of irregular flows and supporting Libya in management of migration pressure on which the government is undergoing.”

Georgia Meloni “reiterated Italy’s commitment to Libya’s stability, unity and independence” as well as “to provide support to a political process – under the leadership of Libya and with the help of the UN – which leads to the election”.

The announcement, finally, states that “the three leaders agreed to proceed with the technical cooperation immediately in order to select specific actions that will be taken together, with a specific timetable.”
