The Israeli army announced that it had stopped rocket launched today by Yemen, after the alarm sirens activated in several cities, including Jerusalem.

“Following the alarm sirens that sounded in several areas of Israel, a rocket launched by Yemen was intercepted” by the Air Force, a military statement said.

Journalists from the French agency heard explosions over Jerusalem.

There has been no immediate assumption of responsibility for the launch.

However, Houthi rebels in Yemen, backed by Iran, have launched many rocket attacks and unmanned aircraft against Israel, stating that they are doing so in solidarity with the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

The Palestinian pocket is plagued by a devastating war that erupted after the attack by the Islamist movement of Hamas against Israel on October 7, 2023.

Israel has carried out several retaliations in Yemen, targeting areas under the control of Houthi, including ports in the western part of the country and the airport in the capital Sanaa.
