US president said Jerome Powell ‘Probably’ will complete his term of office As head of the US Central Bank (FED), despite strong criticisms Donald Trump has made against him for refusing interest rates.
In an interview with the Newsmax Network, which was broadcast Friday, Trump stressed that he would remove Powell without a second thought, pointing out that the Fed interest rates were at an extremely high level, but added that his advisers consider such a move.
‘He will leave in seven or eight months and I will put someone else’, Trump said, referring to the end of Powell’s term as head of the Fed in May 2026.
Through his post on the Truth Social platform, Donald Trump called Jerome Powell to give up. “Powell would have to resign, as Adriana Kugler, who was appointed by Biden, resigned,” the US president wrote.
Earlier, Kugler resigned from the Fed Board of Directors, giving Trump the opportunity to choose a candidate for his choice.
