Diplomatic fever: Egypt and Qatar, with Turkey’s participation, are preparing a new proposal for a peace agreement in Gaza between Israel and Hamas. Confirm from Constantinople
According to Middle East Monitor and other Arabic and Turkish media, a well-informed source told Sky News Arabia on Monday night that Egypt and Qatar, with the participation of Turkey, are preparing a new proposal to be presented by the Hamas leadership with the aim of lifting the proposal to Complete occupation of Gaza. According to this source, a Hamas Political Bureau official in Gaza is expected to arrive in Cairo on Monday night to meet with Egyptian officials as part of an intensive effort to revive the truce process in the Gaza Strip. The source added that if Hamas agrees with the proposal, it would be forwarded to the American mediator before appearing on the Israeli side.
What does the new proposal foresee
Journalistic reports indicate that the initiative is focusing on a comprehensive exchange agreement, which includes the liberation of all Israeli hostages and the return of the corpses, in return for the liberation of Palestinian prisoners. It also includes the acceptance of Hamas of a new Israeli army development map under Arabian supervision until a final deal of weapons and Hamas rule is reached. The plan provides for a transitional phase in which Hamas will freeze the activities of its military arm and prevent the use of weapons under the guarantees of mediators and Turkey, while negotiations will continue to reach a permanent ceasefire agreement.
This new proposal was confirmed by Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelati in his statements to reporters in Cairo, saying that his country is working very hard with Qatar in close cooperation with the Americans to secure a 60-day truce so that there is a new impetus for him.
Hamas delegation in Ankara
It is important that the Jerusalem Post newspaper pointed out that the apparent resumption of negotiations is coming after a Hamas delegation visit to Ankara last week, where he met with Turkish officials to discuss the situation in Gaza. Following the meeting, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan went to Cairo to present the official request, on behalf of Turkey, to mediate and resume the negotiations between Egypt and Hamas.
