The online session of the leaders of the “alliance of the willing” was completed with Ukraine President Volodimir Zelenski.

The meeting was chaired by the President of French, Emmanuel Macron, with the participation of, inter alia, of the leaders of Italy, the United Kingdom and Germany. Addressing the participants, Mr. Macron thanked those who were linked to Australia and Japan before presenting the agenda of the discussion.

“Our goal is to chart a strategy for tomorrow’s visit to President Zelenski to Washington,” the French president said.

European leaders, including German Chancellor Friedrich Mertz, French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Kir Starmer, will go to Washington on Monday for a meeting with US President Donald Trump and Ukraki. The aim is to strengthen Kiev’s position while the US president is pushing Ukraine to accept a rapid peace deal.

Trump, who met on Friday in Alaska with Russian President Vladimir Putin, said in a post on social media that he has made “great progress with Russia”, but without specifying the content.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Trump now has enough data to meet Zelenski and European leaders, but pointed out that both Russia and Ukraine would need to make concessions.

According to sources, the Alaska Summit discussed proposals on the basis of which Russia would abandon small pockets of occupied Ukrainian territories in return for Ukraine to grant an extensive zone of fortified areas in the East and “freeze” its line.

However, many of Putin’s demands are considered extremely difficult to be accepted by Kiev, which shows that harsh negotiations will be held to end the most bloody war in Europe for the last 80 years, which has been over 3.5 years and has cost more than 1 million life or injury.
