Hundreds of people were removed from seven villages in the Tourist province of Tsanakkale (Dardanellia) in northwestern Turkey due to a new fire, authorities said today.
The fire broke out yesterday, Saturday, and was quickly expanded due to strong winds on the hills near Gallipoli (Gelibolou), on the Dardanelles Strait.

At night, about 250 inhabitants were forced to leave five villages, while two others were evacuated today, Canakkale Omer Toraman wrote in X, without clarifying the total number of residents who have been removed from their homes.
“Until now, the fire has not reached the zones that have been evacuated,” the commander assured, adding that the flames “did not touch” the military cemeteries of the peninsula.

A total of twelve planes and 18 helicopters are fighting with flames, as well as 343 vehicles on the ground, as part of a business involving 1,300 people, Georgia Minister Ibrahim Yumakli wrote on X.
