The King of Britain Charles III today addressed a message of support to Ukraine on the occasion of Day of Independence of the country, demanding a “fair peace” in the war that erupted in February 2022 after Russia’s invasion of its neighboring country.
“I still hope that our countries will be able to continue working closely to achieve a fair peace in Ukraine,” Charles wrote, according to the message posted on social media by Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski.
Zelenski thanked Charles, considering that his words “are a real inspiration for our people”, and also expressed his gratitude to Britain for her support in Kiev.
“The kind words of his greatness are a real inspiration for our people in these difficult times of war,” the Ukrainian president stressed.
“We appreciate Britain’s leadership attitude in its support for Ukraine and our fair purpose: to defend freedom from tyranny and to secure peace in Ukraine and throughout Europe,” he added.
Meanwhile, the British Ministry of Defense has announced that the British army would continue to train Ukrainian soldiers at least by the end of 2026.
More than 50,000 Ukrainian soldiers have already received training on British territory, according to the government.
For his part, British Defense Minister John Chilli commented: “We will continue to strengthen our support with our allies so that Ukraine can defend itself today and prevent (an attack) tomorrow.”
“In the face of ongoing Russian attacks we must bring Ukrainian Armed Forces to the stronger position as possible,” he added.
