Pakistani authorities have removed more than 1 million people from their homes in Punjab province this week, officials said today, as the worst floods of the last 40 years have caused chaos in hundreds of villages.

The torrential rains from the monsoon and the release of water from India from its dams resulted in overflowing three rivers that end up in the eastern province, forcing the authorities to create openings on the rivers in some areas, causing more than 1,400 areas.

Village residents, such as Cadirabad, today tried to cross the streets with water reaching their breasts, after the Cenab River overflowed, causing floods.

“We spent the whole night awake and terrified,” Nadim Ikbal, a 26 -year -old, a worker, told Reuters, while walking in the water with one of his children together.

“Everyone was scared. Kids were crying. Women were worried. We were helpless, “he added.

Officials reported that the floods have deteriorated in Punjab, where half of Pakistan’s population lives and is a large producer of wheat, rice and cotton, from the release of waters on three rivers, Ravi, Sutletz and Cenanab.

India, which regularly releases waters from dams when they are filled, has issued three warnings of floods to its stupid enemy, Pakistan this week, calling them a humanitarian measure.

Both countries are confronted with extreme phenomena caused by monsoon, including sweeping floods. At least 60 people died this month in Indian cashmere, while the dead in Pakistan in late June is 819.

At least 12 people died this week in Punjab province, said Mariuum Orangzeb, a minister in the provincial government.
