“With this protest, the environmental organization denounces the absence of measures by the government against climate crisis and its impact on fires that destroyed the peninsula and much of Europe this summer.”explains Futuro Vegetal in a press release.
Sagrada Familia, designed by architect Anthony Gaudi (1852-1926), though unfinished, is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city of Barcelona.

Spain faced in August with a wave of deadly forest fires, which caused the deaths of 4 people and destroyed more than 3,500,000 acres. These fires constitute “one of the biggest environmental disasters” the country has experienced in recent years, according to the left -wing government, which linked their range to climate change.
Futuro Vegetal has made dozens of similar mobilizations in recent years, which have been denounced as vandalism from many museums, including a protest in 2022 where its activists stuck their hands in the frames of the Spanish painter Francisco Goya at the Prado Museum.
