British fighter aircraft are going to perform air defense missions over Poland, with the aim of tackling Russia’s air threats as part of NATO’s mission called “Eastern Sentry”.

Royal Air Force Typhoon aircraft (RAF) will be united by allied forces from Denmark, France and Germany to enhance NATO’s defense and deterrence along its east wing.

This development comes a few days after the reckless and dangerous invasion of Russian drones into Poland’s dominant airspace as well as a further violation of Romanian airspace by a Russian drone over the weekend.

The Typhoon fighters will operate from the RAF base in the Coningsby Lincolnshire and are expected to start their missions over Poland in the coming days. They will be backed by RAF Voyager aircraft, which will take off from the RAF base in Brize Norton.

Prime Minister Kir Starmer characterized ‘Reckless’ the behavior of Russia which “It is an immediate threat to European security and violation of international law, which is why the United Kingdom will support NATO’s efforts to strengthen its eastern wing.”

According to Starmer, these aircraft “They are not just a demonstration of power, it is vital to preventing aggression, the safety of NATO airspace and the protection of our national security and our allies.”

For his part, Defense Minister John Chilli stressed: “Russia’s actions are reckless, dangerous and unprecedented. All they can do is enhance NATO unity. “

In the last 18 months, RAF has developed Typhoon aircraft in both Poland and Romania to protect NATO airspace.

As reported by the British Ministry of Defense, “Typhoon is equipped with advanced sensors and weapons systems, which makes them ideal for identifying, monitoring and preventing potential air threats. They are the basis of the UK’s Quick Reaction Alert, ready to respond to any threat to the British air space 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. These air defense missions to Poland will enhance the safety of NATO’s airspace and will have no impact on RAF’s existing commitments, including the defense of British ether. “
