Paris Criminal Court ruled the former president of France, Nicolas Sarkozy, guilty about conspiracy (gang setting up) in the case of alleged funding of his campaign in 2007, by the then Muammar Gaddafi regime in Libya.

Sarkozy, however was acquitted of all other categories and specifically abuse of public money and bribery.

Guilty were also judged the Brice Ortf and Claude Guan, Two close associates of the former president and ministers of his governments.

It is noted that Sarkozy was accused of 2005when he was minister Franceconcluded an agreement with Gaddafi to obtain funding his election campaign in return for the support of the then isolated Libyan government on the international stage. He has denied the accusations, saying the case has political incentives.

The prosecutor has proposed a 7 -year prison sentence For Sarkozy, and expected within the day to announce his sentence.

According to the Associated Press, the former president has the right to appeal, which will “freeze” the execution of the sentence until the case is tried in a second instance.
