Voters and officials were rushed to the Moldovan Embassy in downtown Brussels on Sunday, following reports of a bomb in the building that proved to be false.
According to Politico, the embassy was evacuated after alarm, but police investigations found no threat.
Thousands of Moldovans living in the Belgian capital voted all day in an electoral department set up at the Embassy.
“These are the same tactics for which we have warned, suppressing the vote,” one of the officials said after the evacuation.
The vote continued at the embassy after the authorities gave the green light.
The pro -European government of Moldovan President Maya Sandu has repeatedly warned that Russia is trying to influence the parliamentary elections and derail the country’s efforts to join the EU. The ruling party of action and solidarity has been in solidarity.
Last month, Moldovan National Security Adviser Stanislav Skrierou had warned that Moscow would try to intimidate the diaspora voters, most of whom want to see their country of EU member.
