Iranian President Massoud Pezkian today rejected negotiations on the Iranian nuclear issue that could create “new problems” after UN sanctions were reinstated against the Islamic Republic.

“We always declare our willingness to participate in a reasonable, fair and equal dialogue based on clear criteria, but we will never accept negotiations that would cause us new problems and difficulties,” Pescian said, according to the Iranian news agency.

Tehran condemned earlier today the reinstatement of United Nations sanctions against him, ten years after their removal, amidst disagreements with the Western countries over his nuclear program.

Heavy penalties, including from weapons embargo to financial measures, came into force again at 3 in the morning of Greece after the failure of the Negotiane Nuclear Program. However, Europeans and Americans then stressed that this does not signal the end of diplomacy.

The Iranian nuclear program has long been poisoning Iran’s relations with the Western countries, which, along with Israel, his sworn enemy, suspect that Tehran wants to build an atomic bomb. Iran strongly denies that he is pursuing this and insists on his right to nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.
