The Houthi rebels in Yemen took responsibility for the attack on the Dutch flag Minervagracht. In a statement issued, a Houthi spokesman says they hit the ship with a rocket.

The attack took place on Monday as the cargo ship sailed 128 nautical miles southeast of the port of Aden in Yemen. Two sailors were injured and a evacuation operation followed.

Most crew members (Russians, Ukrainians, Filipinos and nationals Sri Lanka) – including an injured injury – were transferred to a Greek and a French frigate, was announced by the Eunavfor Aspides mission. Another member of the crew, which was seriously injured, was removed by helicopter. The whole crew has reached Djibouti.

The Minervagracht ship has erupted fire and sails in the Gulf of Aden.

This is the first attack by Houthi on a merchant ship since September 1. Since November 2023, Iranian Yemeni guerrillas have launched a multitude of missiles and drones against Israel and ships – who believe they are linked to Israel, the US and Britain -, saying they are acting in a sign of solidarity.
