The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Organization (IOEA) Rafael Grossi said today that he is discussing detailed proposals with Russia and Ukraine on how to restore the power supply of the nuclear power plant of Zaporizia in Southeast Ukraine.
Earlier this week, the Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski He had warned that the situation at Zaporizia’s nuclear power plant was critical, complaining that Russian blows in the region were preventing efforts to restore external power lines at the factory.
In a video message, Zelenski said that one of the generators who provided electricity no longer works, seven days after the outdoor power lines were stopped.
Zaporizia’s nuclear power plant, the largest in Europe, has been cut off from external power supply for more than a week and cooled by emergency diesel generators. The loss of the main source of power supply with electricity has caused concern, as electricity is essential for cooling the reactors of the nuclear power plant, even though they are closed.
