The repatriated, many of whom traveled on foot for more than 20 kilometers, carried on their backs what was left of their possessions. Those who were financially paid high prices to rent cards with donkeys or small trucks to make the painful journey to the north.
Along the damaged narrow coastal roads, some waved Palestinian flags and brought the signals of victory. But the prevailing mood was that of exhaustion. Many seemed weak and malnourished after months of displacement, hunger and fear reported by the BBC.
‘The road is long and difficult, there is no food or water’; Alaa Saleh, a teacher who left the city of Gaza with his wife and his six children in Han Younes, told the BBC.
“I left my family behind and started walking north. Thousands around me are fighting. A car rental costs about 4,000 sekel (£ 924, $ 1,227), much more than most people can afford. “
Those who come back say they push them The despair, not the belief that it is safe. Many have already been said that their homes no longer exist.

Video on the internet shows damaged huge areas in the main neighborhoods of the city of Gaza, Sheikh Raduan in the north and Sabra and zeal to the south and east, where entire apartment buildings have been leveled.
Civil Protection Groups run by Gaza retrieve corpses under the ruins, while help organizations warn that basic supplies, such as food, fuel and clean water, remain extremely rare.
Despite the withdrawal of Israeli forces from several areas, access to many parts of the city of Gaza is still limited and fears insist that the fragile calm could be temporary.
