The Foreign Press Correspondents Association in Jerusalem (FPA) today called on the Israeli authorities to allow independent access to Gaza after the start of the truce, stating that there is no longer any “excuse” to prevent access to the Palestinian enclave.
Since the beginning of the Gaza War in October 2023, Israeli authorities have prevented foreign media journalists from entering the damaged territory, allowing only to enter the fingers of reporters on a case -by -case basis to accompany their troops.
However, there is no reason to wait, the Union said in a statement, in which “welcomes the agreement reached between the warriors for a truce in Gaza”, which came into force today.
Israel and Hamas agreed to the first phase of the 20 -point plan proposed by US President Donald Trump to end the Gaza war.
In this context, the truce came into force at 9am (Greenwich time, 12.00 local time) and the Israeli army announced that it was withdrawn today on the lines agreed inside the Gaza Strip, according to the Trump Plan.
“With the cessation of the battles, we renew our urgent appeal to Israel to open the border immediately and allow international media to have free and independent access to the Gaza Strip,” the foreign -style correspondents Association writes.

During the last two years, the FPA has repeatedly asked to have access to Gaza. “These demands have been ignored many times, and our Palestinian colleagues have jeopardized their lives to constantly give brave reportage from Gaza,” FPA continues.
On October 23, the country’s Supreme Judicial Authority is expected to consider FPA’s application for access to Gaza, “but there is no reason to wait so much,” the Union estimates. “Enough with the excuses and delay regular. Restrictions on press freedom must stop,” he adds.
According to the terms of the Trump Plan, within 72 hours after the start of the truce, Hamas must release the 47 hostages (alive and dead), who were abducted during her attack after the war broke out, as well as the corpse of a soldier killed in 2014.
In return, Israel must release 250 prisoners for security reasons (many of whom have been convicted) as well as 1,700 Palestinians from Gaza arrested by Israeli forces since October 2023.
