Five Bulgarian universities are included in the world universities ranking for 2026 Times Higher Education.

The University of Sofia “Saint Clementius of Ohrid”, the Sofia Medical University, the Plovdiv University “Paisios Hilandarinos”, the Sofia Technical University and the Trakia University in Stara Zagora They are all classified in category 1501+, without specifying their exact position.

The latest ranking of the world’s top universities includes 2,191 higher education institutions from 115 countries and territories.

For the tenth consecutive year, at the top of the ranking lies the Oxford University in Britain. Following are the Massachusetts Institute (MIT) and Princeton University in the United States. The University of Cambridge in Britain ranks third.
